My verse for the day today was the following:
Proverbs 3:5-6
New Living Translation (NLT)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
I am not one to relinquish control easily. But sometimes God knows me so well, He just takes it from me. He will answer us – but we have to ask. And when we do ask, we have to be ready to receive an answer we don’t always want. Or even worse, sometimes he won’t answer for a while. If you are like me you would rather have a “yes” or “no”. No answer is the worst possible option! lol.. But in the end God always knows best. He knows me, he knows my situations and I have to trust that when He tells me one way or another its for my own good.
The second part to this – we need to stop trying to figure it out. I love to try to put all the pieces together before I have them and see if I can determine what’s going on. This past week, I heard a pastor say “stop trying to figure it out! When Jesus tells you to do something, just do with no questions.” It was so powerful, I wrote it on a sticky note and attached it to my laptop at work. To do something that God tells us to do without a full understanding can be scary. And it can feel uncomfortable. It can make us feel like we have lost our marbles – or that others are going to think we have lost our marbles. But does it really matter? Whatever we do in the name of Jesus, we should do for one benefit only… to hear “good and faithful servant” from our KING!
Hallelujah, that we have a KING who watches out for us and our best interest!
